cambelt kit = £89.08
water pump = £21.42
antifreeze = £6.95
aux belt = 17.50
Aux belt tensioner pulley = 22.50
£157.45 EX Vat
£185.01 INC Vat
All Trade club prices.
I have also asked them to put a head gasket set to one side, just in case I need one.
Fair to say that, since getting my TC, and visiting my dealer quite regularly, they are becoming very obliging indeed...
I plan to have this thing fixed over the weekend and monday/tues.
I'm fully prepared and have everything I need to fix it, even if it turns out it needs an engine change (for a 3.0) if the worst comes to the worst.
Then, the following weekend, Markie, Kevin Wood and myself are going to attack the LPG :y

You do realise that the GM headgasket kits are about 100 quid per side....

Yikes... hopefully I won't need them then ::)
-
Which is why I now use Elring headgaskets, genuine cam cover gaskets, FAI stem seals, genuine cam seals and genuine manifold gaskets plus FAI head bolts....works out a LOT cheaper....
-
I am shortly off to buy a little plastic box with a piece of wire running through it, otherwise known as a MAF, for.............£190 :'(

Quite a common fault on Alfas.....I'm afraid.

Bloody hell! :o Is it gold plated???
What about ebay? Pfff, i'd be trying to fix/find a cheaper one rather than fork that lot out.

If you need them, ask this seller for a price on just the headgaskets and stem seals (quite cheap and they are happy to do this)
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/THE-GASKET-SHOP
Bolts from here (BGA which are fine):

Exhaust manifold to head gaskets, front pipe to manifold gaskets, cam cover gaskets, cam seals, rear coolant pipe to block seal and 4 dowty washers for coolant bridge all from Vx...
Just add oil, filter and antifreeze and possibly re-seal the oil cooler and stat whilst in there plus re-route the crank sensor wiring.

Cheers Mark
If I take that plate off to reseal it - I'll be popping a new cooler in there :)

No point, with the heads off its easy to remove without disturbing the trouble some nuts (no comment thanks Jimbob) and with regular coolant changes, its never going to get any worse than it is now. Its not like they are an item that wears.

May try something here. The part I want is Bosch 0280218054. £166.23+VAT.
There is one on Autotek, 0280218045, which he says will do the job...£45+carriage.....Hmmmmm :-/
-
There must be a difference - can you check those p/n's with a dealer?
-
Next problem, the screws which hold the sensor in are five pointers. I dont have one. Rang Halfords, specialist tool sir, 5 to 7 days. >:(

There is a load of sh*te talked about MAFs James, all designed to get you to part with your hard-earned. You'd be surprised how many are interchangeable, if they physically fit.

Tried that Pete. They din't move straight away and I'm not risking making more work by rounding them out. :o

I carefully used Vicegrips/Molegrips on the outside edge of the screw, when I changed my Astra's. You could always cut a slot in the top with a hacksaw for a flat blade screw driver.

Couldn't see properly, it was actually a security torx bit. Sorted. :y
