Orange or blue?
Also, any preferred brands?
I can't find anything about it here.
I have a feeling it should be pink and I need to top up mine but it's currently got blue in.
-
Flush out blue with lots of cold water then buy a 5 litre bottle of pink longlife stuff from Vauxhall - about £12 on Trade card and not much more without :y
-
Is it only the pink that has protection for the HG in it??
-
I use Vauxhall Red in mine all the time. Still change it every 2 years, even though its 5yr.
Be aware some Reds do not like being mixed with some blues (Vx Red is OK though)
-
Thanks you confirmed what I thought. I'll be flushing it tomorrow then.
-
Where do I put the hose, and where do I drain from? (I'm guessing the drain plug at the bottom of the rad but just to be sure...)
Also, I know the heater has to be on so it can flow fully round the system, but is there a preferred way to flush it, or is it just shove in the hose, open drain, turn heater on, turn water on?
-
No. the drain plug is red iirc. Bottom right of rad. reachable from under car without jacking up car. Problem is some coolant stops in block even with hose in expansion bottle. It needs filling up, warming up to temp, draining. Filling warming up etc etc etc. till coolant is nice and pink. Hope this helps :y
Also its helpfull if you put what omega you have and engine size in your profile :y
-
Ok so to drain and get all the blue out I do the same until it runs clear?
Then do that until it's all pink?
sounds easy enough, just time thats the biggest problem, but I've other stuff to do so its not really any trouble.
-
Yeah thats right. Just keep topping and flushing with pure water. Thats how I did it. Then final coolant drop. Do a 50 50 mix and fill to line on expansion bottle
-
Oh and be carefull as the coolant will be very hot if warmed up enough, so when you undo the drain plug you might get a bit warm ;D :y
-
Need to do this on my Sintra too...anyone know if there is a drain plug on the Sintra radiator..."same" Omega 3.0 engine so hopefully radiator is roughly the same too :y
-
if its the same engine, drain plug "should" be in same place. :-/
Usually is on VX's
-
Same engine but kinda different set up for a lot of the bits...cant work out why tbh but (for example) EGR and AICV are on the opposite sides of the engine to the Omega...battery has side terminals and is under one of the fuse boxes...so radiator could be the same but then might not be and engines bays smaller so worse access and hard to see some of the stuff
