well i got one!! it seemed ok at first but not to sure now, seems to be a whining/scraping noise coming from the right front side of the of the car, almost sounding like it's coming out of the drivers vent!? i can only hear it while the car is moving and it seems to get a bit louder the faster i go.
-
If that is all you can find fault with, you have nothing to worry about. :y
-
thinking that myself but never driven an automatic never mind a omega before! it cost me 850 in the end so just worried it's something more serious! its the most annoying of noises! was thinking it could be the gearbox, but why would the noise be coming from the air vent :-?
-
dont sound too serious,wheel bearing??
-
Let us know more about the noise, is it a motor? plastic scraping? metal to metal? air leak?
-
not sure it seems high up! had a look whats behind the the vent and its the master brake cylinder so no joy there. could be a wheel bearing though.

sounds like metal to metal to me!
-
Wheel bearing is easy to trace, jack up & spin it, you will hear it rumble. :-/

Rubbing brake disc ??? There was a thread about the disc backplate touching the disc and making a noise some while back ... ???
-
Could it be light enough to be a brake backplate? ::) DOH! He beat me to it! ::)
-
sometimes grit and stones get stuck between the back of the disc and the other plate.handyst thing is to jack her up and spin the wheels and have a listen, hth
-
Agreed, looking at your pic, there is a little damage to o/s/f bumper, could it be the plastic wheel arch liner? ::)

could be, was thinking that on my way home. im gonna have to listen to it a bit more myself, there is a bit of a squeek coming from the serp belt that kind of masks it a touch. it dont help that i dont know the car yet, dont know how it should sound :-/
-
It may be helpful if you post where you live, there may be someone round the corner from you who can have a listen.
-
been trying to figure how to change my profile still says ive got a vectra! but im in reddish just down the road from manchester city center. im just a bit paranoid because ive spent more than i should.
-
figured it! :-[

Brill, now what year? (1999/2000 by the looks of the reg, V/W?) As for paying more than you should, only you can judge that, I think you are going to like it. :y Have you traced that noise yet? ::)
-
Has the car been sat at all, in 4 weeks my pads rusted onto the discs and the resultant high spot created a speed related sound from the front wheel.
-
dont know how long its been sat i got it from a part ex clearance sale all bought as seen, its on a v reg and its a 3.0, not gonna be able to drive her today because she's got no tax, shes got a 12 month mot though.

was soooo tired last night! had been up for nearly 24 hours when i posted last night! well thats my excuse anyway :-[
i think the cars worth the money its just i did not have the money!! ;D

Squeek from the aux belt could be the tensioner pulley running dry.
-
Could well be the back plate -- when mine moved initially there was just the faintest squeal ---- then suddenly it sounded as though I was dragging my exhaust along the ground !!!! Sounded absolutely terminal !!!! But a quick jiggle of the plate fixed it !!
