I've just replaced the front and rear pads on my miggy. No squeeling but after about 500 miles i'm getting what sounds like a grinding noise when i brake. it doesnt matter if i brake soft or hard, the noise is still there,
Had the wheels off loads of times, checked everything over.
The brakes work fine, and genuine VX parts used.
Any idea's ??

Good chamfer on the leading edges of the pads?
Did you replace the discs or remove the wear groove on the outside edge? If no to the latter, bet thats the cause....

Thanks H21 The discs were new 13k ago. no need to replace them just yet so i'll take the edge off them tomorrow, (Pads that is)

Yep, it's probably the new pads contacting the 'un-worn' edges of the discs, particularly on the circumference edge.

Took the wheels off this morning and ran a file over the edge of the disc just to take the rusty edge off, then i took out the pads and filed down the very top edge slightly (the bit that touches the very edge of the disc itself) just got back from a short spin to test.. All Sorted now (No more grinding)
Thats what i like a nice simple fix
Thanks guys :y :y :y
