Title: Cutting out
Post by: revolvolt on 15 March 2009, 19:47:44
Hi all.
my 2001 3.0ltr v6 starts first time on key and then runs perfectly for 3-5 minutes. After that time, when it has nicely warmed up, it stops suddenly like a switch has been flicked. After that it will turn over but will not even attempt to start untill about half an hour has passed and then it will start first time and run for 3-5 minutes.

 Any ideas anyone ???

May not be the same thing but i had a faulty coolent temp switch blue (two pin) at the back of the engine once warm it wouldnt start unless i left it to cool down (very annoying in petrol stations when you turn the car off)

im sure someone will be along with the correct answer tho but that was my problem  :)  good luck

Read the fault codes, if you find a 19 then replace the crank sensor with a VX part (not pattern) and see how you go from there.

Thanks peeps. crank sensor does seem to be the concensus. Put car on fault reader ( not tech2 ) came up with no errors  :D

you mean a paperclip?

FYI I had a failing crank sensor on a veccy B.  didn't store a fault code either.
