Title: 2000 mv6, whiring noise when cold
Post by: 924boy on 16 March 2009, 22:57:46
hey, have just got a 2000 mv6 estate. when i start it up theres a whiring noise coming fom somewhere under the bonnet (sounds like a pump of some sort) that stops after a minute or so. Was just wondering what it is?

When you start it have a listen if it sounds like under the passenger wing. Could be your Secondary Inlet :y

Some are louder than others mate, you can unplug it.
Like I said under the passenger side wing infront of the wheel, look up and you will see a pump with a couple of pipes going into the engine bay. Unplug it. :y

Most importantly it adds extra air to burn off any unburnt fuel before reaching the cats. Disconnecting it will likely shorten the life of the cats.

The SAI system is not fitted for the fun of it...

Why do people totally remove it then?
