Title: Engine Stalling and some times miss firing!
Post by: Anthony The Stig on 15 March 2009, 18:48:45
Hi There i am new to this so here goes, i currently have a 3.0l omega MV6 automatic, so here is the problem, when it is stould still it will tick over fine but when you driving down the road it will try to stall and often does stall we have tryed everything the vauxhall specalists have told us like they told us to change the idle controll valve so we did that and that did not cure it and then we got told to cap off the egr (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve so we did that and still no better.  So i was just wondering if anyone knew the cure to this irrotating problem thanks Anthony!

Paperclip it or get the codes read.

Go for a thorough clean of the breathers (see guide) and remove the throttle body to clean the bore and the throttle discs. Now check that the throttles do close completely and that someone has not played with the throttle stop, the throttle must close properly for the idle stabilisation to work properly. (check there is enough slack in the cable to allow throttles to hit the stop)
Check for air leaks at the idle valve and vacuum pipes and replace the breather - plennum seal if split or hard.
The idle valve rarely needs to be replaced, usually just needs a really good clean then lubricate with thin oil (not WD40)
