auto box revs up when driving as if not in gear then goes back in gearalso keeps blowing bulbs

Having the same problem with mine. Had the shift solenoid (not sure which one) replaced a number of months ago and it fixed the problem. It's come back though. :(

If you update your details so people know what car / gearbox you have it may help :y

check the atf in the g/box, make sure its full & that it isnt burnt, should be pink in colour, also what bulbs are blowing?

Blowing bulbs, could be the alternator, and I know this might sound daft but an over charging alternator somehow effects the gearbox, well it did on my 2.0L auto last year. I am sure someone who knows better will be along soon. :)

Voltage is the first thing to check. Overcharging alternator can affect so many things in our cars.
Deecee - please explain more about your problem - speed, revs, gear etc. No one will be able to help you without detailed information, unless you want to hear to change your box.
It could be a gear shift solenoid but then it will only happen at some speed and gear (very popular 2-3 gear solenoid fails around 30mph).

2.0 ltr 1998 cdx auto box just revs up as if not in gear as u r going then drops into gear at about 30mph . bulbs are o/s/r brake n/s/r tail n/s/f side light also now all control lights on dash have gone i.e the pull out switch on dash

1. First, check system voltage and any short circuits.
3. So the car drives find up to 30 mph and then revs go up and it seems like it's on N. Eventually it will engage the gear with a clunk - if that's what you have, I suspect 2-3 gear solenoid.
