Title: Cambelt kit choices with markings
Post by: Varche on 26 March 2009, 10:35:48
I have just re watched the excellent OOF Cambelt change DVD as a prelude to changing mine. I seem to remember people saying that some kits have a belt without markings.

I suspect it would be far easier for me to have a kit with markings. I need one via mail order from the UK and have been looking at
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-OMEGA-VECTRA-CALIBRA-V6-TIMING-CAMBELT-KIT-NEW_W0QQitemZ370137661900QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item370137661900&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 as a possible source (excluding says only posts UK!) Obviously I would need to make sure it was appropriate for my engine number -08226271

Any suggestions appreciated!

Try these mate http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/timing-belt-kit-vauxhall.php?pageNum_Recordset1=17&totalRows_Recordset1=313

Bought 2sets for V6 off them (Contitech kits so good) & both belts had markings.

Possibly cheaper than the ebay one too :y

Gates belts do have markings, IME, so given that that is a Gates belt it's probably a good bet.

I recently changed my belt and it had no markings, because they are not necessary with the kit that was supplied. This has a replacement bottom idler, which is no longer adjustable and so the markings are superfluous. I wrote up my method but have not posted it, but I am quite happy to pm you if you want.
