Title: change rear shocks on an Estate

Hi
Is there a "how to" change the rear shocks on an estate.
I can see the bottom mount but how do I get to the top mount.
Also any tips on removing  the bottom bolt as I understand this can be a real B*t*h

Lift the cover over the spare wheel well & the top nuts are there
I watched mine being changed & the lower ones were assisted with plus-gas and taps from a hammer

Ive removed the top bolts to change springs.

You need to pull the carpet back beyond the wheel well to access em.

Easy enough jobbie this .....

The bottom attachment has a counterbore for the sleeve to fit snugly into. This can be a bit tight, but some reasonable thumping with a hammer will detach it.

Never failed to do it yet!

i tend to drench bottom bolts in wd40 several times over and then give it some welly. some cars are better than others

Change the shocks on Sunday morning the bottom bolts were no problem but I had to drill and split the Near side top nut.
 Put a pair of KYB gas shocks (£22 ea) on as they were cheep and I did not want to spend to much on the car as it has done over 200k and is 12 years old just needed to get an MOT.

Yep that sounds familiar. I had exactly the same problem when I changed mine last year, and resorted to the same resolve. Difficult to stop the centre rod turning while undoing the nut.
