Title: Vx Trade Club Cards
Post by: puffa on 31 March 2009, 10:04:41
Hi,

I am need of a self leveller shock absorber for my mig, I have searched the net and found no suppliers online, so visited the stealers to be told £129 +vat, I assume it would be a darn site cheaper with a trade card, is there anyone local to me in  Southampton ( Sorry i know its a dump !!!) that would be willing to meet up and visit the stealers ?.
Kind regards

Steve

Might not get it any cheaper with TC. Certain parts aren't available on TC, if you find a generous dealer they may well give you some discount but it is at their own discretion AFAIK.  :y

Or join autobahnstormers  (http://www.autobahnstormers.org/) for £20 and get your own!  Seriously good value if you need a few parts in the course of a year.

Yes. Strangely, I had less troubles getting dealers to take the ABS card than I have getting them to take my genuine TC card.

Occasionally the dealer may query the ABS card, but you should be provided with a number that the dealer can call to confirm.

Participating dealers can be found at www.tradeclub.co.uk

When I waved my ABS card at the local dealers TheBoy had got there first...oh theres another bloke who has one just like that says the girl in the parts department.....saves us setting up an account we'll bung it on his   ::)

So I got TC on the TC parts and trade price on the rest   :y

i have an Abs card if it helps, in the Reading Slough area if your up this way? Or get one yourself as said, or fit standard shocks and do away with self leveling? Or fit mv6 if you can find the parts. :-)

Edit, mv6 should be all round obviously, not just the rear shocks.

That's what she said at Evan Helshaws in Wigan ...... Danny?  ;)

I had to stand my ground though when I got my 'fan belt'. I phoned & ordered it, and asked if'd be there for the Monday afternoon. No problem he says. When I got there he treid to charge extra for having allegedly ordered in especially for me in quick time.  >:(
I asked to see his manager, at which point he said I could have it for the £20ish TC price.  :y

Seems the way forward - have the ABS form ready to be filled out :) Mind you, when I called my local vx bods they reckoned that the central locking motor I needed would be a massive £4 cheaper (approx.)  :D
Still, sure I will need more bits - understand that it is worth it's value in Oil alone !

I paid £45 for my aux belt (assume that is what you got Andy?) at Arnold Clark in Salford. They promised me that was TC price. Thieving g*ts!!!

You paid over the full price anyway. Go back & complain. I was charged £35odd in the first place - even questioned it at the time. A couple of weeks later the price was discussed hereor ABS & I realised I'd been overcharged. I took it back, it was bought as a spare cos the one on the car is iffy. I got my money back & bought at TC from Wigan .... long story :-?

Which card is used with the Vauxhall Trade Club- The one from ABS or from the Vx owners club. Which one gives most discount?

Regards

Steve

Think at my local dealers it depends on the storeman some go all through the TC job & stamp it others just stick a local garage that they deal with & i get more discount then i reckon
eg today
Sealing compound                                                         £3.64
2 door plastic bushes (all they had in stock)                      0.50
2 dash bulbs behind heater controls (again all they had)     1.54
2 oil filters                                                                      8.54
                                                            total                  £14.22 + vat
 I paid £7.60 + vat = £8.74 :y

PS local motor discount shop sold the bulbs too 60p ea as was replacing all 3.
