Title: Poor low beam
Post by: Barcarolle on 01 April 2009, 18:40:00
The low beam on my Omega 2.2 Ecotec has to be one of the worst I've seen on a car. Round my local Kent country roads, even with the lamps set on the highest setting, it just doesn't illuminate far enough ahead. If there are no cats eyes it's a real pain...

Have checked all fuses etc. Is this just that the standard lights aren't up to the job?

Is it a projector headlight?HELLA or aftermarket?
If it's a projector headlight than firstly try to use new bulbs, if it will stay the same than take it out both headlights and check the projector body reflexion parts basically - you can check through the bulb hole. If the state of this not too brightly than you can fix this but you need to open the headlight. Find a place where the projector house reflexion part can be renewed.Put your headlight it into the oven approx 10 minutes on 120C, and you can open the headlights. Take out the projector and renew it the projector body the who you found.
Make the reversal of these steps and I think your headlight's light will be like a new one.
I was the same problem in case of HELLA xenon headlights. Still I done these steps - which perhaps sounds brutal - I have no problem.
The cost of whole project was approx 25 pounds - Ok now i changed my shit currency to pound.... :)So 7000HUF.

do projectors have the levers for setting from UK to neutral position?  If so, worth checking they are right.

Believe it or not, never had an Omega with projectors, so can't answer...
