Title: Cambelt kit
Post by: Bumbazor on 18 March 2009, 11:01:17
Is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-OMEGA-VECTRA-CALIBRA-V6-TIMING-CAMBELT-KIT-NEW_W0QQitemZ370137661900QQihZ024QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 the right kit and the right price?

Also I'll be doing the water pump too (is it worth going to VX for this or ebay?); is there anything else I can do while I'm at it?

Thanks

I would watch this one as well ---> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-VECTRA-OMEGA-V6-GATES-CAM-TIMING-BELT-KIT_W0QQitemZ250388114702QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item250388114702&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

You need to check your engine number against this bit
(Up to engine code <-08300418)

It sounds a bit pricey for a Gates kit (they are good, but you should be able to get one for less.   Try Autovaux - they will uesually give you 5-10% off as your are a forum member.   I think ByPartsby have decent prices on Contitech kits too.

But have your engine number ready (on your registration document).

Vx pump is as good as any and not too dear.   Maybe change your aux belt as its coming off anyway.  and coolant obviously

I thought contitech weren't necessarily good quality?

Agreed! :y

And the cambelt kit is only another tenner from Vx with a TC card. :y

Allways use VX water pumps they have 12 months warranty and if they fail they take cam belt plus your valves but as this is under warranty they will pay for repair to your engine check it out for only a few pounds more it may be worth it

Not on a V6 they dont. (you have got to be VERY unlucky!)

I personally would buy the contitech cambelt kit and contitech wter pump as they supply the vx items!

Couldn't agree more - £55 buys you a cam belt kit and £27 for a water pump - the latter can be had for £20 from Vx on TC though.
