I have just noticed that the front passenger door lock does not work in tandem with the others, either with the remote key or via the drivers door, and can only be locked or opened manually. When locking the others it does give a slight twitch, is this the actuator, and will it need replacing? All suggestions gratefully recieved

Yes probably it is the actuator.
Best thing to do is remove the door plastic cover (not difficult, and described on the forum) and then check it.

Thanks Mathew I've had a look, and it doesn't seem too difficult to remove the door card, getting it back might be a different kettle of fish! Job for the weekend I think .

Lube all the rods in the switch mechanism, quite common for it all to dry out and get sticky. You'll need to remove the door card to gain access - 5 min job. :y

Is it only me, I found it difficult to remove the door card on my prefacelift GLS (passenger side rare door)
Any one else having trouble with this door. PS: It has a manually operated window & the guide does not describe removing a manual door handle.

Well before I started looking into the problem today the thing inexplicably started working again :). MANY THANKS for the input.

Yes they can do, but if it is like mine it will frequently decide not to work! :D ;)
Watch out when leaving your car remotely 'locked'. I have double checked only to find the passenger door unlocked!! ::) ::)
I will be replacing the solenoid next month. 8-)

Both my front door locks work when they feel like it ;D Ill be interested to see what fixes yours :y

Do you reckon some lube strayed on the actuator will free the motor up and get it working??? The pre facelift ones arent so easy to replace...door catch needs to be removed to get to the screws holding the actuator as they are screwed to it!

As Lizzie says it will be ok for a while but will fail again , I have recently just changed both front door ones . Second hand from scrapy ::) but they have been ok since . They are not too hard to change just a bit fiddy espeicaly with fingers like sausages ::)

Just to give an update. The thing stopped working again yesterday as predicted. Today it will not lock, but will when deadlocked, and open normally. Strange, better change it before I get as confused has it seems!

Sounds just like my passenger door lock. Sometimes does not work at all and sometimes decides to work, but only when deadlocked.
Not one of the most urgent problems I've got with the car at the moment, but one of the most annoying. Good luck :)
