Hi,
Ive got a squeaking noise coming from the engine, it seems to come from around the inlet manifold. The noise sounds like a loose fan belt, but all the belts have been checked. Has anyone got any ideas of what this might be.
Thanks for any help in advance

In the light of my recent experience I'd check aux belt tensioner!!
-
easy to check if it is the aux belt: put a 15mm spanner on the tensioner, and pull it towards the centre of the ccar to take the tension off. slip the belt off the water pump pulley - the smooth one in the middle. make sure the belt is then off from other pulleys incl crank - start up and see is the noise has gone. If it has then its something on the aux belt run - most likely is the tensioner. If it is atill there then ignore the aux belt and investigate further - it could be a cambelt tensioner on its way out!

Run the engine without the 'fan belt' ( your water pump is driven by this belt, so not for too long) and see if your squeak disappears......
must type faster ....... :y
