Got my car back from service and well it's not fantastic news
Mounting on o/s/f shock broke.
N/S rocker cover gasket leaking.
Bulge in tyre...which I knew about.
It was first time using the mechanic and he told me I could just get away with changing the shock mountings on the front and not the shocks themselves.
Has anyone had any experiance in this?
thank you in advance

Sorry don't understand about the 'broken front shock mount' !!!!
regards
richarda

neither do I!!!!
there isn't a lot for the shock to mount onto and nothing that is likely to break! can you post a piccie or give us more of a clue
-
neither do I!!!!
.......
Phew! that makes 3 of us. The front shockers are built up as part of the strut and are mounted under the inner wing & on the hub. You'd have noticed if either had broken. :o :o ;)

I just going on what he told me....There is a knocking noise from that side. I could not find what it was an he told me it was shock mount. As I say my first time using him and i just wanted some other opinions
-
A knocking when you go over holes in the road ? that is more likely to be droplinks if so which are £15 each :y
-
drop link, wishbones or idler arm
-
Cheers guys...it's not the wishbones...I have had them replaced last year...!
-
It's not just going over holes but any uneven road surface..!
-
I just went out and had a look, there is play in the o/s droplink and none in the n/s. Guess I have found my problem and I know where I won't be getting it done either >:(
I nearly went and bought new shocks today.
How big a job is it?
-
Not a big job at all! Where in Suffolk are you?
-
Pretty easy to fit mate two nuts to undo each side :y
-
Get em off ebay - FIA ones best - around £7 -£9 each. Replace in pairs. ½hr per side to do - easy and cheap job. :y

Could potentially be the top shock bearings...
...but far more likely something else (droplinks as you've found)
