while driving the mpg is showing about 18.6mpg but when i stop and sit in traffic it goes down very fast. i reset it and it was then showing 88.6 then went to 36.5 then i pulled up outside the house and just idled and it went down so fast. the first time it went down to 8.6 mpg. any ideas why this is so??

That's the problem with KISS FM.
Maybe a 'lead' right foot or a bad earth on the dash display.

Coz your using fuel whilst not moving!
Hence mpg will be shite

Think your reseting it too often, not giving it a chance to do a real average which is what its trying to calculate.
-
It is just like on a motorway; you are travelling at say 80 and mpg is hitting 35, then you descend a hill it rises to 89, then you apply more gas at the bottom and you will see 20! :o And yes if you sit still you will burn mpg going nowhere as the engine continues to burn fuel! 8-)
The MID will always show precisely the mpg that second, dependant on what fuel intake and consumption is going on, which is at the mercy of course of your right foot! :D :D ;)

I agree with all above, your display is an "Average" since you reset it, being only a few seconds. Please try it over a few miles and the average will be far better.

it nnever went down that fast on the cdx, this seems to fly down just idling as if its going to go down to zero. the range is showing zero and i must have about 8 quid left in there as well after having put in 15 quid yesterday
-
that video was done this morning after i reset it yesterday after putting 15 quid in

On the instantaneous consumption page, I think when I'm idling in a queue it changes from mpg to something time-based (IIRC between 3-4 litres per hour or something like that?). If that's the same for you then you're just not giving it enought *miles* to average the mpg. Be it reset yesterday or a week ago, you have to have ridden so many miles to get a reliable average.
Look at it this way: you stop in a slow queue for an hour and burn 3-4 litres of petrol moving forward only 1 mile (Ouch!). What's your mpg then?

well last week i ran out and i still had 12 miles on the range.
now the range is zero and i have still at least 8 quid left. its just gone like it in the last week, never had a problem on other car or this till last week. i shall put 50 quid in next time and reset and see what happens

Don't keep resetting the normal Consumption, as it WILL be all over the place.

i usually reset it whenever i pit 20quid in, should i not do that then

you can, but the readings over such short periods will be pretty much meaningless....

Hi
there are 2 mpg readings.
1st - is the instant consumption, when idle mine reads 0.3 to 0.4 gal/hour, when i drive starts at 7.6mpg and then varies on how i am driving.
2 - the average consumption, by reseting this alone is not worth doing, you also have to reset the electronic trip and trip consumption. as this mpg reading is based on the average of these two.
hope this helps

the picture you have inserted is for the average consumption and not the instant conspumtion.
