I have seen a fix on this forum to clean part of the sunroof pre-selector to stop it spontaneously opening.
Mine eased up a day or so ago and I'd like to fix this.
Could someone direct me to the instructions - thanks
Steve

my elite does the same mate, i asked a question about it and couple of the guys said to push the switch up and hold it for a few seconds. i tried this but its hard to say if its cured the problem as it didnt go up on its own a lot anyway. it hasnt done it since i pushed up,but like i said, who knows.if you look under my thread " life of its own" you will see the answers.

Suggest try reset first? Mine had a funny turn as you describe, i disconnected the battery(within ten seconds of ignition off or the alarm will in off) to "unset it" then reconnect.
The sun roof and one touch windows should now not work.
To reset sr turn the dial/knob to open and press it in/up into to the roof, hold for a couple of seconds and repeat in close and then open/tilt.
To reset one touch windows hold each window switch in up position when window closed.
See how you go. :-)

There's a black disc inside, under the cover, under the control knob somewhere, - years since I last looked - about an inch & a half across that needs cleaning .... apparently.

I've done that many times.
I read on here (somewhere) that some parts could e removed and some other part cleaned. And Iwas looking for guidance on what to remove and what to clean.

If you've had that many problems with it, you could always replace the lot. There's only 2 or 3 bolts holding the motor in (1 more than a Senator's ;))

I cleaned the black disc while waiting for the kids outside school. 5 mins , fixed the odd movements & irregular parking,

In 5 mins I took off the control knob (5 seconds) and then ....? I took this photo - what comes off next? The illuminated part seems securely fixed in place - more help needed I'm afraid. I fiddled to remove the illuminated ring but was afraid of breaking it.

I was going to have another go at this over the weekend. Any advice how to get past the palstic (without breaking it) to clean behind?
Cheers

I got so fed up of having to reset the sunroof every few miles that I gave up on it and pulled the fuse. But then I read about the "black disk" so thought I'd take a look. Followed the Haynes instructions to get the motor & electrics out (never been in that part of the car before). Found the disk - cleaned the greasy muck off it with some switch cleaner. Couldn't actually see what it does ... but saw a component on the circuit board that the disk rotates over. Number SS 51 234 on the transistor thing is similar to Honeywell Hall Effect sensors listed in RS ... so may be that's what it is & how it works.
Put it back, reset it, drove around - all good so far ... but will need a few hours driving to confirm that's it fixed. Pics to follow once I've worked out how to upload them.

And here are the photos ...

I had to fix the mower at the weekend!!! >:(
I still cannot see how to get into the mechanism to clean. I guess I'm missing something simple somewhere.
How do you get 'in' to access the parts? (I don't have Haynes and find the Vauxhall system not very friendly).
Thanks again, Steve
