Hi fellow Mig lovers.
A tale to tell
My beloved Elite Estate got nurfed by a rather transit whilst sitting at a level crossing. The stupid git left his van to talk to his mate in the car in front but didnt put his handbrake on. Consequently his heap of shite trundled back into me. I couldn't do anything about it although slamming it into reverse and trying to manouvre out of his way did nothing either so I braked and waited for the inevitable crunch..
visible resulting damage was front bumper = wipeout, bonnet pushed say 1-2 inches back and up!!= wipeout and a minor crease in rear bumper as i was shoved back into the beemer sitting behind me
anyways having said all that the guy fully admitted it was his fault (although he is still a nob!) and details were exchanged etc
cutting a long story short - the repairers assigned by the insurers pick up my car tomorrow to begin the restoration back to its former glory.
I havent been able to prise open the bonnet to see if I have suffered any mechanical damage (to be fair and truthful I don't know diddly squat about engines and stuff)
What other parts may have been damaged? and need to be checked and put right as I dont want to eventually accept the car back looking shiny and new when hidden calamities may exist,
also should the repairers check such things?
sorry to bore you reading this
thanks
his lordship

ok many thanks,
also are these replacement body parts easy to source as I was just wondering how long it may be off the road, its a facelift first registered in 2002

Ensure the arse doesn't change his view on it, saying you went up his arse. Hopefully, car behind will back you up if that happens.

Its physically too big. Proper browsers such as IE deal with it OK, but a few dereanged people insist on using Firefox, which can't
The forum guidelines state max avatar size :y

I doubt it mate! Like me you will probably get a Corsa/Micra/Ka .... though hopefully not the latter !! lol

As for courtesy car, I was offered a Corsa, but had the option of anything off the forecourt as it was a Vauxhall garage. :y

sorry to hear of your bump. it happened to me when we had all the snow he ran into me well he bounced off my front bumper .his insurance company rang me and addmitted liability .the arrange for a hire car for me and when my baby came back i checked every thing to make sure they had done the job properly you do the same good luck mate :y

That's bad luck.
I had similar damage to mine. I suspected that the bonnet curve was just accentuated, but on repair I notice that the grille does not meet the bonnet at the top nicely so I think they had to bend the replacement to get it to fit the rest.
Yours sounds a bit more severe so they will probably have to do it properly but examine it carefully on return.

I think I was fairly lucky, they provided me with a Zafira 1.9 CDTI SRI in siver with tints alloys etc, looks rather cool cept for the tractor noise lol, also it is kinda shabbily put together. brittle plastics et al but so much better than a Ka eeuughh

I don't think they will be able to panel beat the bonnet so i anticipate a new one plus front bumper, but who knows, and I certailnly won't sign to accept till I am happy,
I wish one of our Omega Lords could oversee the job then I could trust the outcome ;)
