My wife has just sliced off the offside mirror with the wheely bin
Is it much of a task to fit a new one?
The model is a 2003 Elite estate with Irmscher trim
I was a bit stunned when I found out the price of a new one
If I get a seconhand part are all mirrors on the post 2000 Omegas
the same or is that to much to hope for
Thanks in advance
Ian

The facelift elites are different to the others...cant remember why, heated electric and something else...
Fitting however is easy :y

Any facelift mirror will fit and work, however, if you want to keep the preset adjustment with the seat presets then you'll need to transfer the motor and loom (which involves removing the plug off the loom and feeding the wires through the pivot the refitting the pins into the plug).

facelift different to prefacelift, and Elites are different to non elites, as Elites have all the feedback stuff for memory stuff. Some countries also have folding options

Glad I didn't answer first, I had fogotten about the memory side. There are a few blokes on here breaking facelifts, PM them and I am sure you will get one no problem. :y
p.s. Is it just the cover that is broken?

The plastic pivot on the lower and upper section have sheared
The mirror is ok
I dont want to sound like a complete wally but how do I get to the fixing screws I assume I have to take the triangular piece of trim off inside the car behind where the mirror is situated
If so how is the trim removed
Thanks for the imput

Yes you need that triangle bit off, 3 screws under that if memory serves. Have a look for a "How to", I think there is one. If you are stuck, a pre-facelift one will fit as a temp. :y

I used a right angled screwdriver to get to the screw that is behind the door card (below the triangle), just wedged the card away from the door a little.
