Whats wrong with the engine?

They are quite hard to get hold of, and expensive too!

May even be better looking for an omega thats had a rear end shunt and taking the engine out of that!

But like I said above, whats wrong with the current engine?

havn't got the full prognosis yet only that the mechanic says it's terminal I suppose it has done 401k.I'll check with the garage to get the details.

No I suppose it dosn't owe us much but we have replaced lots over the last year it flew through it's MOT and Taxi test ,just thought it might be worth saving. :-/
Apparently the bottom end is siezed and all mashed up.The timing chain snapped don't recall seeing a replacement schedule for this?

Haha like... every 10 years or 350,000 miles, which ever occurs first!  :y ;D ;D

My god though, 401k! That has to be a record! Dont bin it, repair it, what ever it takes! You've got to get it to 500k!  ;D

Only a possibly stupid idea bearing in mind not too advanced in the mig world but I have a spare engine (i.e. 2.5 straight 6 in a cdx 96 reg) that has had the turbo removed which could be taken off your current mashed engine. only putting the idea out there like I say AMATURE alert! Anything to help you get it to 500k.

I bet Vauxhall never expected to get one lasting that long, have a brass neck and complain about their oversight :y.

On a more serious note the dismantlers here http://www.overtongarage.co.uk/ have had a 2.2dti sitting for a couple of years but has just gone recently although they do have a Frontera in stock in case you need to find an engine.

Good luck,

Steve

Apparently Saabs also have the same engine and according to the dealer I spoke to so do Vectras and Zafiras - obviouslygearbox is different. There have been one or two on ebay recently as well.

Should be good for another 300k then but will the rest of the car keep up?
