I use an adjustable jaw wrench for that job ;)

If you're really stuck you can get much better access by removing the wiper scuttle. If you're going to do a lot of work in future there is a special tool for these clips - have a couple and one has a long flexible end.
-
Cheers, the scuttle is off just cant seem to get the bloody clips off. Will keep trying, out of interest whats the special tool called - not that there is anywhere open today i can get one from.
will try the adjustable wrench idea thanks :y

Mole Grips ::) ::) ;D ;D
Seriously though... There is a Hose Clamp tool but TBH mole grips work just as well, if not better, on smaller bore pipes :y :y :y

Aye, mole grips are the tool of choice for me.
Do NOT be tempted to replace with jubilee clips on reassembly.
-
Third that - "small" mole grips ideal.

That's interesting TB, as I did after it was stated on here that fitting them was not a problem! :o :o :o :o
They were supplied by my Vx dealer and seem to be available for this pipe work rather than the crimp type. I have encountered no problem since (5k miles ago) ;)

This is the tool I have: http://premiertools.co.uk/products/Remote_Action_Hose_Clip_Tool.htm. As said on here, the mole grips are good, but I've had a couple of occasions where the clip was positioned in a way that it was not possible to get any pliers or grips in the right position. Then this tool was brilliant because you can bend it into tight spaces, and it has a ratchet action which locks. Quite often the clip needs some jiggling to free it from the hose and this tool grips so tight that there's no danger of it slipping off like with mole grips. :y

out of interest whats the big no no with jubilee clips?

As well as being quick (thus cheaper) in manufacturing process, the spring loaded ones also apply an even pressure, no matter how hot/cold. Jubilee clips are a constant size, easily overtightened, and don't allow for the small amount of expansion/contraction as the pipes heat/ccol. Generally, jubilee clips shouldn't be used on plastic pipes, as they tend to crack.

Could not get them off at all got fed up and sacked it off, will have to put up with heaters on for a few more days until i fancy another go. Still managed to get an oil and filter change done so not a total waste of a day.
Thanks for all the info

Would you like some help? I'm not too far from Nottingham and have time this week.

bit of WD40 on them usually helps them slide off a bit easier
-
Tried again late yesterday, still not managed to get them off no matter how hard i try, used shed loads of wd40 and although i manged to loosen the clips of 2 of them the bloody pipes would not budge. In my frustration whilst stomping around i stood on my scuttle thingy and snapped a corner of it >:(. With a bit of luck i can get those 2 off but how i the hell i can get the one from the passenger side off beats me. I am ok to go disconnecting other pipes etc in that area so i can get better access as long as i remember where they go?
Shall wait until the skin has grown back on my knuckles until i try again. :(
thanks

If its any consolation, many of us have been there before contributing to the swear box..
I use small mole grips for ease of access.
Might be easier if you do it when the engine is warm. You can unclip it from the bracket which makes things easier once you have removed the pipes on the drivers side - it moves around quite a bit.
