Title: Starts 2nd time every time?
Post by: omegod on 16 April 2009, 18:44:10
Hi Migfans!

Having some starting difficulties on both petrol and LPG, Elite will not start at all on the first go but might splutter a wee bit, second go she starts right as rain.

I did clean out the ICV a few weeks ago but cant see that causing the prob.Otherwise she is running sweet, I would rather sort it now than be stuck with the kids somewhere. Any suggestions on which sensors to check etc or possible DIS going?

Cheers

I had these symptoms and it was the crank sensor but it did "fix" itself every now and then until it gave up totally.

would that show up on a paper clip test? How much for a crank sensor?

Cheers for the reply :y

It will show up on the paperclip test, should show code 19. I recently bought a genuine VX sensor from the dealer for £57. Depends which one yours is.

omegod ... post your car details alongside your location in your profile ... saves you being asked a zillion times, and accurate info can be given. The "paperclip test" does not work on all engines, some use the "pedal test" .. and some :( can only be done with a reader .. :(

Location will help folks who have a suitable reader know if they live near you , they may be able to help you .. :)
