I am sure this is elementary to most of you, but my knowledge on brakes is less than zero :-[
When I drive normally everything is O.K. (I need a four wheel alignment, but can't afford at the mo)
When I drive it hard and the brakes heat up the steering wheel shakes badly, any advice would be welcome :)

you could have warped discs on the front mate :y

warped disc's ?

Sounds expensive to me :-[ :-[

Easy check to see how worn your brake pads are.
If there very worn fitting a new set of pads may give you some time, but as said your disc have had it probabley.

have a look on ebay not to dear on there but quality may not be as good

if it is warped discs?
i repaired mine by regrinding them on a rotary surface grinder at work (the same way they are made after casting) but i didn't have the same symptoms as described :)
mine only juddered when braking.

Don't go for aftermarket front discs, they will warp quite quickly.
Get gen Vx discs :y

Cost and knowledge are a big problem here, so any help/advice welcome :y
I am dyslexic and find the guides difficult to follow :-[
This was the end of mechanic apprenticeship years ago, we didn't get to brakes, this was a paper learning lesson :-[ :-[
But hey I have a nice omega now :) :) :)
-
Jokin apart.............Inspect the disc if its got lines of ware and a lip at the outermost point where the ware sensor is then you should consider changing the disc.
The colour of the disc should be bright metal if its a shade of blue or black then you have binding and that needs sorting out

i would say pads to as they will be bedded in to the old disks may be not essential though :y

I will check at the weekend :y, and plead for help if they need changing, because I don't think I can do myself :-[, just being honest (When you are dyslexic you tend to miss the most important part of a guide :-[)
Sympathy not required, but advice where to get it done cheap welcome :y

you will get loads of advice on here mate just post it up and some one will answer it :y

In my experience this is so :y, as long as they don't refer me to a guide all will be O.K. :)

if it is only when the breaks are hot this may suggest that the calipers are not releasing fully and due to the heat causing expansion the pads start to bind causing the wheel to shake
is there a hot/burning smell from the brakes when you stop or any noise from the brakes slight scraping/ squealling noise when driving :question :question :question
-
Warped discs mate.
Do not buy aftermarket - they will not last and will judder fairly quickly (bitter experience!). Buy genuine Vx front disc set - comes with 2 discs and set new pads. Not sure of retail cost but around £70 + VAT on Trade Club card.
Fairly easy job to fit - sure there is a guide on here.
