Title: Airbag warning light
Post by: BigDave on 14 December 2008, 12:25:34
Cruising along the motorway yesterday and the airbag warning kight on the dash suddenly came on. It is now pemanently on. Anyone know what this means? Could the airbag deploy? Would it in an accident? Any suggestions for a fix?

Now it is lit, it is disabled and wont go off.

To reenable it, you need to clear the fault code
to do this you need someone with a code reader / resetter, or a real tech2,
It will only go out if there is no fault present and it was just a glitch.
A real tech2 will be able to work out exactly what the problem is.

From experience, if the airbag light is permanently on the airbag will not deploy if you have a collision. There are quite a few reasons why it might switch on, without a tech 2 session you won't be able to find out why it's on

Blast up A46 and visit Marks DTM Calib - he has a real Tech2 and will be able to find out why it is on :)

Problem solved by a local garage who did the MOT. He said it was most likely to be a connection on the seat belt pre-tensioners which can work loose with moving the seat back and forward - sure enough he was right - job done! :)
