hi folks,whats the darkest tint you can put on the front side windows for mot?

no always checked by MOT but i think around 70% of natural daylight must make it through

IIRC, the standard Omega glass is close to the limit for the windscreen and front side windows so no tinting possible.

It won't be brought up at MOT unless taking the p*** because they won't have the equipment to measure it. However, if you get pulled by the Police they do.

its not so much the mot its the police that are more intrested and will makeyou take it off at the road side i there in that kind of mood which is probibly a good one if you just get away with that. limo tint is a big no no even dark tint is too much if they get there light meter out so i think light tints are as dark as you can legaly go . and not many mot centres have a light meter to test but i know some traffic police cars deffently have them  :-[

Just got my windows tinted - as advised above, anything over stock on the fronts would be illegal.  Police could cause you some problems - but its insurance companies that will be the head ache!  If your in a prang (even if its not your fault) and an assessor sees those tints they will not pay out, simple as that.  I wouldnt run the risk.

If you have a look at the writing on the windows you will see the tint level mine are 70% as standard which is all you are allowed on the front windows

The MOT in Northern Ireland is much stricter than in mainland Britain,so it might just be an MOT failure there.
The test is conducted at government test centres rather than your local garage.I would give the test centre a ring and ask them. :y

yeah i had a 2002 bmw 740i in for mot and the slightly tinted windows failed.even though i tried to fool them by leavin the windows down!!
