Hi all have a problem with my 2.2 auto (yr 2000). Driving home tonight when all of a sudden the car cut out completely. When I try to start it the engine turns over but doesn’t fire. Had a management light come on a couple of weeks ago but went back out 2 min later. But I did have a miss fire month ago so cleaned plugs and no probs since. Please any help appreciated .Thx
P.s. Also took the battery off earlier but no joy still turning over no firing

Crank sensor ?
Not familiar wih the 2.2 engine, but when my 3.0 just died and wouldn't restart.....it was the crank sensor

presume, when you say the car cut out that you mean the engine only? If so, and all electrical power to windows door radio dash lights starter etc is ok then would have to say crank sensor. Constants cranking and not firing classic cs symptoms esp with a previous episode, which was a clue to pending and now current failure imho.

I don't think you can paperclip or pedal it, are there any warning lights on now? ::)

havings said that the 2.2 seems to suffer cam sensor failure more often than the crank sensor which is more to my experience with the v6. Maybe a 2.2 owner will advise further but obviously a code reader would confirm. Difficult when you cant drive it i know....

Thx for replys, is it a had job to rplace the crank sensor and any ideas how much 4 one?

thats the trouble Daisy. 2.2 can not be flashed/paper clipped/pedal tricked. Does not work. Hence the need for a code reader to confirm.
