Can anyone tell me is an Auto Diff any different from a Manual Diff? :-/
reason for my question is im converting my 2.5V6 from auto to manual and im unsure if i need to change the diff :-/

yes the ratios are different, longer for autos iic

There is a small difference in ratio, as said. It's small enough that I would try it with the diff you have before worrying about changing it.

It looks like it will be slightly lower geared with the auto diff.

What 'box are you fitting? the R25 and R28 have slightly different ratios.
I have fitted a R28 and a 3.7 diff to my 2.5V6, this makes it higher geared than standard but it helps with economy and It still performs well.
If you keep with the original diff until you have sorted the gearbox transplant then change the diff later, less chance of problems that way and you get to play with annoy the BMWs away from roundabouts. ;)
