Has anyone recently bought and fitted the above?
If so, where is the best place to get them and what is the job of fitting them like. I bet its a bugger. :y :y

Oh good... it's not just me who can't find a howto on this then.
Other chat i've read on this forum does say that it could be a bugger, but I can offer no more advice. Sorry!

iirc Matchless, on here, has done this job i beleive. Not as straight forward as the front, not by a long way. Not much help, sorry.

The "Haynes guide to keeping your Miggy on the road" says the hub nut should be 300Nm. I think mine goes to 210Nm :-/

Been there, done that, no tthat bad as long as the old one has not rusted to its place. You need some special tools/pullers (you can use some steel pipes and flanges and use a long bolt instead). I was very stupid not taking any pictures when I didi mine, would have been a great help... And I believe SKF is the brand to use.

How to
1. Phone garage and book car in
2. Drive to appt, and let them fit the bastards
3. Pay
4. Drive home
When Mark did mine had an absolute nightmare
Had to remvoe the rear trailing arm and bash the old one out with a sledghammer, no way was it coming out, well and truely seized in.

Jesus that looks like an absolute whoremaster of a job to do - probably the only job i'd trust to a VX garage.

Noticed Saloon and Estate have different part numbers.
Wonder if that makes the job any easier / harder :-/

AFAIK the job is the same, difference is in width of the bearing... in my opinion changing the fuel filter to my car was far more awkward than the bearing job...

Lol other way round for me, 5 mins tops to do a fuel filter, a whole day for the bearing!

Just had my O/S rear done @ local garage. Took `em 7 hours :o as opposed to 3 charged me £230 all in :y

If they come out then its about a 2 hour job.
If they dont then its about a 6 hour job (although I reacon I could do them in 4 now)
No excuse for a professional taking 7 hours though!
