my omega failed mot today on front bushes suspension arm rubber bush deteioratingon both sides is this a job i can do myself or better getting garage to do it? thanks ::) ::)

Known problem with the miggy.
Best change the whole bottom wishbone both sides and cheaper too.
I guess someone will point you towards an online seller of the arms. :y
-
yeah he said that looking at £85 each side is that expensive?

diy mate loads of help on here :y

OUCH. you dont want the gold plated version.
If your fitting them yourself about £50 from memory.
Have a look at a well known site like fleebay for the wishbones.
Its not rocket science to fit them. ::)

have a search mate, well covered subject this one.
But while we are here,
Vx, 230 a side.... Thought i'd mention it for the laugh.
Autovaux, for lemforder items, 110 to the door iirc, exact same as vx but without the GM sticker.
Vauxcentre for oe items 50 a pair plus delivery.
Or egay as said.
Keep the old ones and you can get better/other bushes pressed in if you like, if you need to do the job again.
When fitting, get the bolt in the rear bush first then front bush, then steering knuckle.
Torque the bolts correctly, and with the car on the ground, suspension loaded. This makes access with a long wrench under the car difficult, so do em up tight then re jack the car for wrench access.
There is a guide in maintenance section but dont think it covers the correct torqueing procedure?

And as I've mentioned in all the recent wishbone threads, don't drop the rear bush bolt in the subframe when fitting it! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Chris, you're right about the torquing procedure being missing in the wishbone howto - as you mentioned, do the bolts up, drop the car, tighten as much as possible with the car on the ground (TIS says a 70KG load in each front seat too, but it's safe to ignore that!) and then jack it back up and torque up properly.
If I remember correctly, 120NM then 30deg then 15deg, alternating between front and rear bushes. :y
EDIT: If you put your location in your profile, you might find someone local who can assist you with the job - but it's pretty easy to do yourself.
