My manual omega has developed a real problem with the clutch now. It doesnt disengage enough to get the gears changed smoothly.
Also there is a rattling sound when the pedal is pressed to the floor. Theres also the same rattle when starting the car, just as it fires up.
Sometimes i can feel the rattle in the clutch pedal.
The car also judders at 2000rpm...
I did a search about this and found something about dual mass flywheels breaking up. Would that be something that is going on here?
Im not sure what the DMF is for and how it could break.
What can or should be done about it?
btw, it tried bleeding the clutch without improvement.

Maybe the thrust bearing is worn out?
-
Was the brake bottle on max when bleed as thats where the feed comes from? does sound like your bearing on its way out just like James said :(
-
Yes the brake fluid bottle was full.
How about the clutch rattling when starting. That makes me think it might be something worse...
-
I would guess thats the bearing
-
sounds like the thrust bearing
my 3.0 has a noisy one too ill replace it when i get round to it but my gearchanges are still smooth

do i need a new DMF?? i dont know how to tell if i do i need to get saving!

A ratlle on startup is the DMF....a rare failure as they are pretty bullet proof on the Omega (although they get a little slack with age)

I was afraid of that. Can that cause the clutch to not disengage fully?
I believe the rattling noise and clutch problem started at about the same time.
Fixable? Buy used? New expensive?

DMF's are about 240 quid here plus about 180 quid for the clutch kit.

According to the lad in the local dealer parts, the police get through them for fun in the Vectras ...... at £1000 a time! :o
