Title: Brake Pads
Post by: SMD on 25 April 2009, 14:37:23
Hello,

Need front brakes pads for my '98/2.5V6 and found these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-2-93-99-BRAKE-PADS-MINTEX-SET-NEW-BOXED_W0QQitemZ130294990267QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item130294990267&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Simple one really, will they fit?

Thanks

Best advice is to fit genuine Vx ones - cheaper than those on ebay (on Trade Club Card!)
But yes looks like they will fit from the pics altho' they give the wrong size discs in their advert - should be 296 not 286mm dia :-?  Makes you wonder if the pads are incorrect too

"Genuine" parts are expensive at least here in Finland. But what is genuine when talking e.g. about brake pads. I bought mine from spare part service. They were made by JURID which is quite famous and old trade mark. Who made the original pads ?

Personally I would only fit Genuine Vx like a few of the other guys suggested but at the end of the day its up to you :-?

can i ask why ? (just curious)

my car is only worth a couple hundred so not worth the extra expense

often genuine (on trade club) are cheaper than pattern!

Many here have fitted pattern discs and pads and they have gone to shi!t very quickly.

Omegas are big heavy cars you need decent brakes!

I too would only fit genuine, and my facelift is worth about 800 quid!

Mintex used to make some reasonable pads, but now mostly do pure budget stuff.

I'd stick to either genuine pads, or proper performance pads if you are harsh on them
