Title: anyone made a pressure test cap?
Post by: kingplym on 05 May 2009, 17:08:07
as above has anyone made a pressure test cap as i seem to be slowley losing coolant.  i had a massive coolant loss, a one off, just before the oil cooler went and now seem to be losing coolant. :-?

i know it might be hbv, but if anyone has made one can i borrow it ;)

or if one of the miggy breakers is reading or anyone else, has anyone got a spare cap laying around i could have and convert myself ;) :y

Scrappy at Letty Green, just outside WGC.    A414 Hatfield to Hertford.  Roundabout where troppical fish is turn right.

If you turn left, takes you to the back of Panshanger and towards Tewin  (LH country)

Hope you know where it is.

Also try Barton Scrappies.  Near Barton Ley Clay, just north of Luton

Could it be the seal on the oil cooler plate Kingplym? or maybe one of the coolant bridge seals has'nt seated properly when put back together (I have heard of this happening before on here).

Not doubting you're work mate, but as you know, even the most competent people can encounter failed seals.

What would I know though - I still havent managed to get that bloody nut undone on the oil cooler pipes... :D

I had the HBV fail on my last omega, it only leaked when my heater blower was turned on!... on mine anyway.  It did leak fast though.

I must say, it was a lot easier job to change the HBV than the oil cooler is turning out to be mate.

Hope you get sorted.  I'm gonna have another final bash at that nut as soon as the weather holds off a bit. :y

Instead of waiting for the Postman, I assume you are going to convert your old one?  :y

good luck again with that oil cooler bigobob :y

i was thinking the same as regards having failing seal washers or wether i did seal up the cooler plate properly, as i  had a bit of movement when refitting. that why i was gona go with the home made pressure test.

i had to put two litres of water in me miggy this morn :o

but still using car so cant use old one :-[

thanx all :y :y :y
