Ok my Tourer has a 3.0 engine in it...but the ECU and MID are the original 2.5 ones...TB says that the ECU is fine, 98 on so is the same regardless but the MID will need reprogramming...
Is it the ECU thats reprogrammed to tell the MID the relevant information...or is it the MID itself??
If its the MID then can I put an MID from a 98/99 3.0 in it and job done?? If so what info must match on the car for the MID to not need reprogramming as I wont be able to get a 98 3.0 Tourer MID as they dont exist normally...its manual, 3.0 and 16" alloys...anything else need to match? Will the 2.5 components throw off the 3.0 programming in any way??
Thanks (and great meeting you all earlier) :y

a manual mv6 with HID's is code 046 from memory :y
yes you can just swap it with a 3.0 mid btw :y :y
-
Oh yes...forgot you can press the 2 buttons to get the programming setup to come up on the MID will have to try that tomorrow and see what it comes up with :y
I think the MID's I have in my garage if I can find them will all be 3.0 autos...

can your new "My Naff Code Reader" gadget do it?? :question

Unfortunately its about the only thing it cant do...but testing it out on programming a spare key in the next day or so which assuming it works (does appear to but cant be certain till I have the blank key cut) which will save a pretty penny in itself :y TBH it covered its cost just by resetting the airbag light when I first got it so anything from here on is just gravy :y

Says 029 3 24999
029 is 2.5 manual?? 031 being 3.0 manual?
software level 3 sounds ok
24999 sounds a bit low or is that spot on for the 2.5?
