Does anyone know if the standard 16inch elite alloys have the same offset as the 17inch mv6 alloys (mini facelift) im asking as i run the 16inch alloys in the winter (still on car at the mo) and the 17inch in the summer and have booked the car in with WIM to get the geometry set up (tyres wearing on the edges) and dont want to waste money having to get them set up again when i switch to the 17inch alloys.

the wheel will not make any difference to the ofset as long as you have all the same wheels on when you get it set up :y
-
When you say 'offset' - do you mean 'camber'?
ie; the inward inclination of the wheels at the top, as you view the car from the front.
WIM will set-up the correct camber angle for your car, and this is regardless of the wheel/tyre equipment. Trust the experts on this!

offset is how far the rim sits out on the hub, the higher the number the further in they sit, so as long as you fit miggy wheels you wont have a problem as long as the overall diameter is the same, :y

Precisely!

Cheers guys i just wanted to make sure as i know the mv6's are a bit tighter in the suspension department and thought that maybe the offset/camber may be slightley different. :y

i would not worry about the wheels. However i would be concerned as to why your tires are wearing unevenly. For a first off i would give Tony at Wim a ring and have a chat. Its pointless to drive there only to find you have worn wishbone bushes/stearing idler or a busted spring, as any post set up repairs can alter the set up again needing further correction at wim. Also have a search re set up, its been well covered on here. Hth

Already spoke to someone at wim (mark i think) ,only just gone through a Mot and i specifically asked tester to check wishbones and steering for play to eliminate those items and he found them to be fine, now booked in for the 7th may, will do a follow up on here after they sort the car and report on what was found. :y

Should be find then, but be aware, at the wim knowledge day last year, 13 cars attended. Only 2 could be set up due to bushes amongst others. All had a valid mot obviously. Mot testers often miss them. But as you say if hes specifically checked them....

Thanks for the advice,i will just have to see on the day,as far as im aware the wishbones and steering idler are the originals (car is on a 'v' plate 2000 and on 99000 miles now), ive had it since 2005 and they have not been done while ive owned it so maybe there is wear of sorts.hopefully there ok but if there are any bits that need replacing i will replace them and then re-visit wim.

Taking car to WIM tomorrow, let's hope the wishbones and idler are ok,will update tomorrow. :y

After being set up by tony bones at WIM the car feels transformed, front camber was way out and apparentley would have caused front wheel bearings to go if left like it,wish bones and idler found ok,if anyone needs their geometry set up it's well worth the trip :y :y
