Hi all
I have a Vauxhall Omega CD 2001
A warning come up saying check coolant level,, Also the temperature needle has stopped working it dose not rise at all,
A mate told me that he thinks its the Coolant tep sensor, So i got a new one to day and removed the header tank I see a plug underneath
the tank but I cant get it out by turning or pulling it is there a certen way you remove this ;)
-
Firstly
Its far easier to replace the tank with a known worker :y
secondly the temperature sensors have nout to do with the expansion tank theres one on the block and one on the rad
the one on the engine does the temp guage
-
aww so 2 in total
-
yep one for the ECU & one for the guage
-
Aaa wonder witch one he sold me :-/
-
where abouts would I find the one on the block and the one on the rad :y
-
guage one is small & threaded ill take a pic of my "Spare" to show you

Hi all
I have a Vauxhall Omega CD 2001
......
which engine?
The tank contains the level sensor, just replace the lot, about £35 IIRC.
V6 temp sensor live right at the back of the V in the centre, if your gauge isn't moving at all I'd suggestthe wire hass come off the sensor.
4 cylinder ..... sorry, don't know. ::) :y :y :y :y

Hi Thanks for the Pic yes this is the same one I have :y

I think it's still at he back some where, I'd look for a detached wire with spade terminal first though.

do you mean on the header tank andy :)

do you mean on the header tank andy :)
The header tank has the low level sender/sensor in it, if it's goosed, you need a new header tank.
Your temp gauge relies on the engine temp sensor which I think sits at the back of your engine (mines a V6). If the wire has come off, then you'll get zero reading on your gauge, if you're getting spurious readings, then it could be the sensor is u/s .... but I'd still suspect that the wire has come off. When you find it, if you ground the wire (ie touch the engine) you should get a full deflection of the gauge ie read HOT!

Hi andy I get teh check warning come on the dash saying Check coolant level !!! Also Tem gauge not going up at all,, Also had a look at the back of the engine can seem to find the sensor but ill have a look again in the morning dont suppose any one with the same engine could post a pic of theres or point me in the right direction :y
