Title: Quik Quiz !
Post by: 25td-jazman on 06 May 2009, 22:18:24
Hi,

Being the lazy Sod that I am - I know someone here can answer my question !

While trying to order a new Cam Belt and tensioner for my tractor I came across various listings online and could not for the life of me remember what the engine code was to order the parts,

My Miggy was born in the year 1997 with the BMW 2.5TD Heart,

My question is does anybody know what this engine code would be for ordering parts ???

Bonus points for anyone who can suggest a reasonable site for ordering a new starter motor for her !

 :-?

I thought the Tractor cam was chain driven.

most places should be able to give you the right cam belt set from the registration  :y i found this place quite reasonable http://stores.ebay.co.uk/VAUXCENTRE they don't list all the parts they do so better to give them a ring  :y

Tractors certainly are chain driven, Vx can get the chain kits (inc. tensioners) in on order but bear in mind the sump needs to come off to change them IIRC.

sump stays where it is but it is easier to loosen it to facilitate replacement of timing cover, guides an chains available throughout even bmw!!!

Surely it will still have an aux belt and tensioner even if it is chain driven??  :P :P

what about log book engine code?
I thought the dvla database would be updated when changing to a private plate and suppliers and etc gather their info from dvla ? :-[
is this not so ? :-? ;D

Tensioner is likely to be dealer only I reckon. Belt should be available most places

1997, likely to be X25DT engine, may be U25DT, though in this case it makes no difference.  If you have a MAF, its the X25DT one
