Dont think they ever used diesel ones, and cloth trim was optional on elites. does it have sunroof? Is the speedo a calibrated one?

Police speedos are calibrated to get exact readings, should have a little sticker saying IRS NOTTINGHAM and actually say calibrated by irs nottingham on the face. Sorry to say but police cars didnt have sunroofs.

Calibrated speedo has a mark at every mile per hour, whereas the standard speedo only has a mark every 5mph.  This is because if they do you for speeding by following you "Somewhere between 35 and 40ish" isn't good enough for a conviction, "38" gets you a fine.

Edit:  By coincidence just found these pictures elsewhere on the forum while I was looking for something else.  http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1187171417

Well i had an ex-plod Carlton GSI24v, and that had the lot - calibrated speedo, leccy windows, mirrors, sunroof, half leather trim, inter-galactic milage the lot. I`d probly still have it now if i hadnt ploughed it into the side of the Tyne Bridge.   :-[:'( :'( :'(

Yes, twin side impact bars, loads of wiring, big bits of glass, large metal frames, at least 2 motors.....all adds up to hernia creating door weights!

Plod never Used The diesel omega!

If an MX5 beats a 2.6 V6 and an auto 3litre then i dont think the police would of stood anychance in a 2.5td!

Only the 3.0/3.2l had leather as std (cloth optional). 2.5 (petrol or diesel)/2.6 and 2.2DTi had cloth with leather optional.

Doubt they were ever used as pursuit cars, for obvious reasons, but I have come across a couple of plod TD estates.  Usual givaway is the roof holes badly filled ;D

I borrowed a citroen AX off a mate some time ago now , when I first opened the drivers door I thought the doorskin had come away it was that light.   Much better side impact protection in an Omega  :y
