Has anyone ever noticed the door cards on a facelift are coated in a rubbery plastic which tends to scratch off easy.Does anyone know if u can repair these somehow, maybe a kind of spray or something along those lines.

Yes, I'm quite familiar with the coating...I did work with items coated with similar material and same results (scratches etc)
It's called "Soft Touch" (it also can have other brand names) and it's a sprayed, urethane based, paint-like layer on a plastic part. What I do not know is that if it is possible to have it in spray can, I assume not, 'cause it is two component system. Also, it will be almost impossible to have the same gloss as in original without knowing the original material and original production work-flow. Check this for details: http://www2.dupont.com/Automotive/en_US/products_services/paintCoatings/interior.html
I also have found that the soft surface is easily damaged/scratched, on Omegas as well as all other products this is used on...and the looks of scratched part is really bad.

Reason i ask is that my 5 year old son has discovered that he can scratch the coating off,and finds it rather ammusing(little shite)LOL.Thanks for the info though mate, might be handy to know.

I also have some scratches near hanf brake lever, on drivers door card, on light switch, on... Where I don't have the soft surface damaged? Yes, it looks and feels good when new, but when scratched, it kinda peels off... and in my experience it can not be re-sprayed. Also includes some oven-work (heating) in process...

So i guess its a case of renewing the part then by the look of it.

AFAIK the only possibility, but would be glad to have someone to confirm this... Usually, when I feel certain of something being impossible, the next day someone has a cure for it ;D

yes most annoying, add in a nice cream colour, as mine is and you get nice black finger prints from some monkey who keeps working on cars ::)
Had an idead to buy a new one in a dark colour, no idea on price though. Or scrape it all of to the plastic underneath, will all look the same at least.
