Title: Omega Automatic Gearbox Problem.
Post by: BarrSull on 11 May 2009, 08:14:07
Hi from Barry,
I was wondering if anyone could help with my problem.
I drive an Omega Ellegance 2.2 Petrol Automatic (2002).
My problem is that when I stop at a junction or brake suddenly and go to take off again the gearbox seems to be in neutral and then clunks into gear.
Up to now I really enjoyed driving my omega but this is very frustrating and I would welcome any suggestions as to what the problem is.
I have had the car into the mechanic without any success.
Many thanks.

Check the gearbox oil level as a starter...  ....sounds low to me.

Yup sounds like the box is slipping.....with a bit of luck its just low on oil....or needs a change of oil, rubbish oil thats too thin will cause it as well..

yup agree with above, sounds like low level.

To check, have the engine running and remove the plug, it should be up level with the drain plug.

If its not, top it up.

Car should be level with engine running, fill with Dextron III, until its coming out of the fill plug,
