Title: Any help would be greatly appreciated
Post by: Tresvant on 11 May 2009, 13:44:02
Hi

Was driving up the M1 from Leicester and my fan belt has snapped, due to i think a tensioner that has buggered. Manage after to much messing around to get the car towed back to my office in Nottingham.
Is there anybody out there that would be able to help me fit and new fan belt and tensioners or is it something that is easy enough to do. I am limited as far as getting parts are concerned as i now have no transport.
Other than the obvious damage i can see is there any unseen problems that this breaking might have caused.
I am happy to recieve and advice or help that is offered. Thanks for taking the time to read

cheers
Steve

Too far for me to be able to come out to help.  Not sure, but suspect tensioner is dealer only job.

May be better seeing if local members have a spare, or what the breakers have...

i know and by being tight its now going to end up costing me loads more. Just looked at the price for tensioner and belt kit and its not a cheap thing. But your right it is that one that has been smashed to pieces.

Will keep on looking for a cheaper alternative to the kits i find.

cheers

The tensioenr pulley can be got on its own (I have a half good one that could get you by).

Give Sutton auto factors a call for a belt or get from a dealer (about 20 quid)

Will see if i can pick up belt this afternoon then. Could i possibly purchase the tensioner off you??

Any chance of helping me out fitting it, or somebody with some good notes on how to do it as i cant seem to find anything on the site.

thanks
Steve
