Hello.
I would really like some help with a problem with my omega 2.5 V6 auto. It starts fine, goes fine but when slowing to a stop it cuts out.
It is idoling at 500 RPM, but when slowing to a stop it drops to 250 maybe and then cuts out.
It doesn't do it every time. I thought it might be getting stuck in a high gear and not changing into 1st or 2nd once stationary. What do you think. It has had a problem with a gear selecter censor before, 2nd gear disappeared but the dash displayed a message about checking the gearbox.
It is an auto so it becomes tricky to start in a hurry or to try and keep revs up whilst stoping.
Independent garage put it on the computer but found no recorded faults. what do you think. Will a Vauxhall dealer computer find more.
Thank you
David

Doubt it. ;)
Sound like your idle air control valve needs a good cleaning out.
Lift the bonnet, & it's the cylindrical thing on the right hand side of the plenum (silver thing at the top ;)) :y
You need a can of carb cleaner. ;)

i have dealer level diags up here in deepest Brackley, so avoid the dealers. Esp those scumbags in Buckingham, toerags.
But firstly, clean up the ICV :y
-
AICV needs cleaning...its the metal canister thing to the right of the plenum...easily removed...soak it in carb cleaner overnight and get as much gung as poss out of it :y
Note to self...MUST TYPE FASTER! lol

thank you so much
I will try that tomorrow.

Have you done a paper clip test? mine was also ideling at 450/500rpm but it was also stuttering at 3500rpm,( was a code 19 cs sensor) hope you get it sorted and that its is only someyhing simple. :y

Clean ICV mate, re-oil and refit. :y

ICV shown on above link.

Hi
What is the paperclip test. What does it prove.
Also, does the disc on the inside on the ICV move. Mine doesn't seem too.
-
What is the CS Sensor
Have been reading a few other peoples issues which seem to match mine, the CS sensor is mentioned but no idea what this is.
?? :-?

The above link shows you how to do a paperclip test, (its easy) it gives you codes that can give you an idea what is wrong with your miggy. The CS is Crankshaft sensor ( code 19 ) there is also a list of the codes here somewhere but if you post your code you will get help no probs. as for the disk inside your icv I do belive that it should move, use carb cleaner to try and clean it up.
hope the info helps.

And if you really must take it to a garage I can recommend BVS in Brackley, Tom the owner is pretty knowledgable on Miggys and he lets you bring your own parts along (so nice cheap trade club prices for me !). If like me you dont have the tools or time to do your own work (or are just plain lazy which is more like it with me ) its your next best option.
But before you do anything you really should get over to see TheBoy and have him do a full tech 2 diagnostic.

i had a similar prob with my v6 a couple of years ago, car would start fine, do a few miles, revs would drop and then not start until car cooled down. eventually found problem to be crank sensor
