Title: advice needed on repairs
Post by: fudy on 13 May 2009, 15:01:12
had the her for a few weeks now and I'm starting to get to know her a little better.
I'm still worried about the aux and cam belt going! and the rattle/tapping from the engine bay
is still the same after a flush and oil change, plus it don't get any quieter the longer
she's running!? its strange that I can hear it clearest when all the windows are shut,
then it sounds like its coming from behind the dash!? and I'm sure she is blowing from the
exhaust somewhere but for the life of me i cannot find it! ive got so many problems i don't
know where to start.  I took her to a local garage and he is insisting the head has gone
because of the mayo under the cap!!! does any one know of a garage/person near stockport that
know what there doing!?, I need to get her sorted because I'm hoping to head down to the
south coast at the end of next month!

Common on v6's if used for short journeys.

Noise could be a colapsed lifter. Which side of the engine is it comming from?

Back or front? Aparantly exhaust gaskets are more common to go on 4 pots.

Does sound like a lifter to me as one of mine is f*cked at the moment

My 3.2 was like it when i first had, just wiped it off,and ever since not a problem at all, just a characteristic of the v6 i think.

Gave her a good run on the m60 and the mayo has gone!(mechanic was a dick!) just the tapping noise is pretty bad and the the exhaust is blowing somewhere! she also railroads quite bad and a slight pull to the nearside when breaking! looks like she is gonna need a good few things sorting before she's safe for a long run!

Driving her around today i noticed that even though I'm holding the wheel straight the car feels like its moving from side to side slightly? and the pull to the left seems to get worse depending on the roadsurface. Ive had all the wheels up and checked the play but nothing was too loose!
