Title: Oily intake
Post by: alexandjen on 16 May 2009, 18:51:31
Cleaned the breathers, throttle body and changed the oil and filter today.

Breathers were fairly clean as it is about a year since I did them last.

Throttle body cleaned up easily with a bit of gunge in the little pin hole.

I noticed that with throttle body removed that the inside of the intake manifold had a film of oil all around it..........is this normal?

a film is nothing to worry about, normally from the EGR system, its when pools gathering you need to consider action

When I removed the plenum on my V6, I noticed evidence of oil/petrol around the o'rings and down the lower manifold ports.

Is this normal?  It's just, I can't remember seeing it on my previous V6.....could be wrong though! :y

There was a fair old pool in the bottom of ours, the first time I cleaned TB/jet etc.  Bit of rag taped to a long stick was the method of choice as I recall, for removal.  Can't see it really going anywhere from there though?

Surely it all comes from the breather system, not the EGR?
