Title: I think i'm a fool
Post by: gstylebaby on 17 May 2009, 19:28:25
I have cleaned my leads and plugs and got the oil out of the plug wells and the cam cover gaskets have been replaced (witch was the root cause of the problem) to try and stop what sounds to be a misfire but still not cleared up but i will admit i did not change the o'rings to the plenum chamber and the seals to the inlet to the engine v if that makes sence.

So am i a fool should i have changed these and could this be my problem cause after i cleaned up the plus and leads. It seems a lot better but still not right and when i did the paper clip test one of the codes i got was 19 Incorrect RPM Signal ??????

U may find that the oil has damaged your plugs and leads. I didnt do mine straight away and ended up having to replace the plugs and leads on my 2.0.

Yes i thought that mite be the case loo knee said that i mite have to replace the leads was just thinking if i have to take the plenum off to get to the leads mite just change the o'rings and seals as well but just thought i would ask if any body thought that it could just be the o'ring and seals causeing the problem cause its not that bad now and only seems to be at high revs as before it was at low but then i cleaned the plug and leads and like i say it is not that bad just at high revs.

Sounds more like the plugs and leads struggling under load  :-/

19 crankshaft sensor failing...this can cause misfires...as it will need doing anyway then I would sort this before anything else...if not I would look at changing the dispack...

Also make sure you have cleaned out breather system as this is your root cause...it will be the reason the cam cover gaskets leaked...

Should have mentioned that i have cleaned out the breathers and cleaned the throttle butterflies as well.  I dont think is the crankshaft sensor but it could be the dis pack. Thinking leads first not sure its the plugs cause they look to be in good condition.

Sorry mate, didnt notice the fault code. As Chris says get the CrankSensor replaced first and then see what happens. If its bringing up a code always work on that first  :y

Will you not get a 19 code if the car is mis-fireing any way due to the rpms not being right ????? I not sure what code is for what just know that it say 19 Incorrect RPM Signal and this could have been from before i did all the work due to the fact that it was realy badly missing. :-/

Or again am i a fool who is barking. ;D ;D

if you got code 19 you need to change the crank sensor its a really easy job and  only costs about 75

on my miggy it would rev to 3500 and bounce of like on a rev limiter or something, also with a code 19 the engine restricts detonation in the chamber protecting itself, this makes  the engine feels noticably dif. its all in the tech section hope this helps :y

I've just had a misfire due to a faulty lead and it didn't show up a fault code. So I would follow the advice of the experts on here.

As others said, you need to cure the 19 before you can diagnose further.
