Title: Gearbox change...
Post by: steverubberduck on 23 May 2009, 13:46:46
I am just enquiring on here....
I am thinking about fitting a different gearbox when my clutch needs changing.
I'm thinking of putting a modified F28 gearbox in.
what does everyone think??
I've been told that the 6 speed box is supposed to make the miggy drive a lot better, as the ratio suits the car??

Don't know anything about gearboxes. But the omega desperatly needs a gearbox with better ratios to get off the line. If a gearbox offered that I'd go for it :y ::)

basically, the f28 gearbox is fitted as standard to a calibra 4x4 turbo.
I have been told by a good mate that works with them, that when they are modified to run with a rear wheel drive car it will make it quicker off the mark, but better on long runs due to the sixth gear.
Just wondered if anyone on hear had tried this??

small problem the F28 is designed for FWD applications Transverse mounted engine

The omega is RWD so has different transmission R28 is the manual transmission standard on all v6s & td tractors
