just been trying to change the oil in my car and i can't seem to get the lid off the filter cannister.the whole thing is just rotating,this ha never happened before.will the whole thing come off if i keep rotating it or will it cause damage,any help would be much appreciated.

not sure my self but you can convert it to use a satndard filter see the how to section

i think the chief vx engine designer had a day off when they came up with this one,what on earth were they thinking? >:(

Mine did that the first time I removed mine. However once I got it off I had to remove cannister a couple of weeks later and found that it would come to a stop eventually as the included a mechanical stop to prevent it fully rotating.

It's not the design that's at fault, it's the heavy handed grease monkeys that swing off the buggers when they refit them. the torque is cast into the housing - 15 Nm - which is nipped up! :y

And GM have even stamped the torque setting on the end - obviously knowing that too many mechanics are lazy bastards....
