Title: Central Locking won't unlock
Post by: Alex on 25 May 2009, 12:47:29
Cenral locking problem on 3 litre MV6.  Everything was working ok but this morning can't unlock the vehicle either by the remote or manually.  Anybody got any ideas please (and how to I get into the damned thing to fix whatever may be the problem?)

Put the key inte driver side and turn clockwise as hard as you can...almost as if you will break the key. First time it happened to me I took it to my garage and well you can imagine how I felt when they just put the key in it and turned.(It will work). There are other ways , but try this first...

No joy turning key....seems to reach a detent which it clicks past and then nothing.  I have noticed that the dashboard alarm indicator light isn't flashing, could it be the control unit or something as daft as a flat battery?  Still need to get into the car though.

Once the key passes through the point of resistance try the door handle. The lockpin does not pop up but it should be unlocked.

Thanks for your help, that worked perfectly.  Still can't start the car (no ignition & alarm sounds) but I think a new battery in the key might be the first place to start.  Make note to self...."Do not leave handbook in car ever again"
