Title: O ring?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 25 May 2009, 18:11:58
O ring under oil filler neck on V6.

Anyone ever had trouble with this?

Never seen one fail before - but mine seems to be leaking oil, whch is running down the side of the cam cover onto the exhaust manifold.

Something new every day  ::)

Yes, seen them fail. Replacement normally fixes it.

What's the fix if replacing doesn't fix - new neck too? :y

I had to replace the 'cap', the neck was fine.

check its not leaking where the 2 parts of the neck are joined.

There are two of these o rings - one in cap, other lower down.  Replaced both on Estate - seems to have stopped leakage which I suspected was cam cover gaskets.  Both O-rings same size.
