Title: Crankshaft sensor
Post by: VX1 on 29 May 2009, 14:12:22
Just a quick question but is the crankshaft sensor on the V6 3.0ltr, just by the oil filter? If so whoever replaced it last time decided to thread it throught the two pipes, which I think are the oil cooler pipes, and can't get it out. Plus cant even see where the cable goes either. >:(

yup.

original route is clipped to oil pipes, but thats flawed.

Run it the 'alternative' way up to abs ecu, then back over to back of plenum, ensuring it doesn't go too near to exhaust

Thanks Jamie I thought it was. The unfortunate thing is I got one of the garages to have a look for me as I couldnt move it and he ahs found out that the cable is traped near the dis pack somewhere so that has now been aborted until I can strip the top half down to see whats happened.

Just leave the old cable dangling and route a new sensor the preferred way. It's not worth the bother trying to remove the old one.. Not until you end up with the scuttle and plenum off one day, at any rate.

Can't get the old cable out as its trapped by the dis pack area so will need to pull the top end off to get to it to sort out.
